My phone and computer fail to stay connected to the WiFi in my friend’s dorm room. I don’t have any problems anywhere else. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

This could be caused by several different things, such as a University-owned wireless access point that needs to be reset, a defect in hardware, a configuration issue, etc.

Also, personal access points and routers can cause interference with University-owned access points resulting in poor performance for other wireless users as well as posing a big security risk, which is why they are prohibited on campus. Please refer to the How do I get help if I’m having problems with WiFi? FAQ found above for guidelines on reporting issues to the HelpDesk.

I have a Windows laptop and cannot connect to eduroam. What do you recommend?

The first step in troubleshooting any technology issue is to make sure you have the most recent updates on your device. We have found that Windows computers that cannot connect to eduroam often have an out-of-date Intel driver. You can update this driver by going to Intel’s Download Center and selecting the download that is appropriate for your operating system.
