Password requirements

DePauw passwords must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum length of 8 characters
• Must not contain your name or username
• Must contain 3 of the following 4 types of characters:
  • Lowercase letter (abcd…)
  • Uppercase letter  (ABCD…)
  • Number (1234…)
  • Special character (!@#$…)
• Your previous 8 passwords cannot be used

Change or reset passwords

Change passwords

There are two (2) separate IT accounts that you need to maintain. For step-by-step instructions on how to change your password in each of these accounts, go to:

1. DePauw Google Account: Provides access to email.
2. DePauw Account: Provides access to e-Services and Active Directory (AD) driven systems (i.e., Moodle, network drives, Box, campus printers).

Reset forgotten passwords

DePauw Google Account

You will need to present your DePauw ID card at the HelpDesk to receive assistance with resetting your email password.

To request a temporary password be sent to your DePauw Google Account, go to DePauw Account: Forgotten password for step-by-step instructions. Otherwise, you will need to present your DePauw ID card at the HelpDesk to receive assistance with resetting your DePauw Account password.

If you have difficulties logging into your account after changing your password, it is likely one of your other devices (i.e iPhone, iPad, etc.) has the old password stored. Be sure to change the password on all of your devices.
