Making calls
Internal calls
- Lift the handset
- Listen for the dial tone
- Dial the 4-digit extension or 0 (i.e., zero) for the DePauw operator
Note: There is a three second delay before the phone dials the number. Press the # key after you enter the number to begin dialing immediately.
External calls
- Lift the handset
- Listen for the dial tone
- Dial 7 to access an external line
- Dial the desired number

Examples
- For local calls, dial 7-###-####.
- For long distance calls, dial 7-###-###-####.
International Calls
- Lift the handset
- Listen for the dial tone
- Dial 7 to access an external line
- Dial 011 + the international number being called, including the country code
Note: There is a three (3) second delay before the phone tries to dial the number entered. If you are entering a long phone number, you can dial the entire number before lifting the handset, then lift the handset to dial the number.
Speaker phone
You can either press the Speaker key on your phone or leave the handset on the hook and dial the number of the person you want to call, and then press the Dial softkey.
Call waiting
If you receive a second call when you are already on your phone, you will hear a tone and the second callers information will display on the LCD screen. To answer the second call:
- Let your current caller know you have a second call you need to answer
- Press the Answer key or the line key that is flashing to automatically place the first caller on hold
- Toggle between the two callers by placing the current one on hold and retrieving the other caller
Transferring calls
Announce transfer
- Press xfer (i.e., Transfer softkey) to place the caller on hold
- Listen for the dial tone
- Dial the desired number
- When the call is answered, announce the call
- Press xfer a second time to complete the transfer
Note: If the called number is busy or no one answers, press right on the up/down/left/right navigation button, and then press PrvHold (i.e., Previous Hold softkey).
Blind transfer
To transfer a call without announcing it:
- Press bxfer (i.e., Blind Transfer softkey) to place the caller on hold
- Listen for the dial tone
- Dial the desired number
- Wait a moment for the transfer to complete
- Hang up
Transfer to voicemail
- Press bxfer (i.e., Blind Transfer softkey) to place the caller on hold
- Listen for the dial tone
- Dial 6 and the desired number
- Wait a moment for the transfer to complete
- Hang up
Conference calls
To conference a third person into a regular two-way phone call:
- When in a regular call, press Conf (i.e., Conference softkey)
- Dial the number of the person you want to add to your call
- When this person answers, press Conf
Note: You can press Join to drop out of the call and leave the other two parties connected.
Do not disturb
Do not disturb directs new calls straight to voicemail. Toggle the DND (i.e., Do Not Disturb softkey) to enable/disable . If you do not have a DND softkey, dial *78 to turn it on and *79 to turn it off.
Call forwarding
The easiest and most flexible way to set up call forwarding is by using the CommPortal; however, here are instructions on how to set it up using your handset:
