Creating network aliases and printing on a Mac

The following instructions are compatible with Mac OS  10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), 10.10 (Yosemite), 10.11 (El Capitan) and 10.12 (Sierra). You must be logged into your Google Apps Account to complete these instructions, which were written with Mac 10.7.5 (Lion).

1. Installing network aliases

  1. Disabling Gatekeeper (10.8 – 10.12)
    1. Mountain Lion 10.8 through El Capitan (10.11): Follow the Temporarily disable gatekeeper instructions if you have a Mac with the Mountain Lion (10.8), Mavericks (10.9), Yosemite (10.10) or El Capitan (10.11) operating system (OS), and then come back to this article to proceed with the next step.
    2. Sierra (10.12): Follow the How to Allow apps from anywhere in macOS Sierra gatekeeper if you have a Mac with Sierra (10.12), and then come back to this article to proceed with the next step.
  2. Click MACscripts.zip.
  3. At the Opening MACscripts.zip window, select Save FileOK.
  4. When you receive the following window, click OK.

  5. When prompted, enter your DePauw account username, and then click OK.

  6. When prompted, enter your DePauw account password, and then click OK.

  7. When prompted, select your association with DePauw.

  8. Open the bouncing MacScripts icon in the dock.
  9. Click OK.

  10. Double-click the appropriate alias to log into its corresponding network drive.

2. Installing network print drivers

  1. Delete any network printers you may have previously installed.
  2. In the MACSCRIPTS window, double-click mapNetworkPrintersMac10.9.

  3. If the following warning displays, click Open.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Enter your DePauw account username, click OK.

  6. Enter your DePauw account password, click OK.

  7. Choose the printer(s) you would like to install. (Note: By holding down the command (Apple) key when clicking, you can select multiple printers. If your printer is not listed, please contact the HelpDesk at (765) 658-4294 or helpdesk@depauw.edu.)
  8. Click OK to install printers.

  9. In the Network Printer Setup Complete window, click OK.
