Accessing the network from off campus: Windows 8

If this is your first time accessing the network from off campus, you must first download the (Virtual Private Network) VPN client.

Tips for using the VPN

  • VPN licenses are limited. We recommend that you download the file(s) you need to access, and then close your VPN connection so others may access the VPN.
  • VPN access is typically limited to a one hour session.
  • The VPN may automatically log you out after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Accessing the network from off campus is a two step process

First, connect to the VPN

  1. Double-click the SonicWALL NetExtender icon on your desktop.
  2. Enter the following information
    1. For Server, enter “remote.depauw.edu” (without the quotes).
    2. For Username, enter your DePauw account username.
    3. For Password, enter your DePauw account password.
    4. For Domain, enter “depauw.edu” (without the quotes).
    5. Click Connect.

Second, connect to the network drives

  1. Connect to the network drives by following the steps at Connecting to network drives.
  2. Complete your task.
  3. In the NetExtender window, click Disconnect when you are done working.
