Optimizing (compressing) images in Microsoft Office 2010: Windows

Optimizing or compressing images removes redundant or otherwise unnecessary data from image files. This results in a smaller file size and faster loading on websites. The following step-by-step instructions were developed for Microsoft Word/PowerPoint 2010.

  1. Select the image you wish to compress.
  2. From the Picture Tools ribbon, click Format → Compress Pictures.
